The Shinra Electric power company are the main industry Based in midgar, they drain the lifestream and turn it into mako energy and materia which are used to make life comfortably, although isnt this because theyre taking away from the planets life? well some people think that, however to enforce their control they created Soldier a special group of combat experts to keep the peace.
After Rufus Shinra was killed, ShinRA company lay dead for quite some time, the planet was struggling to get electricity. They had to ration it, many people stoped watching TV, all the used electricity for was lights. The ShinRA HQ lay untouched for some time, it had just stopped, Midgar was dead pretty much. Then, one day...everythnig started again. The towns folk of Midgar were surprised to see ShinRA HQ all lit up again and working. Everyone was actually happy that ShinRA was running again, they had electricity. But, not all things last. It was Seifer Almasy, the leader of the Galbadia Army who took over ShinRA...and he had bigger plans than giving electricty out.
